How to Move IDM License to a New Computer

Moving an IDM license to a new computer should be handled carefully because IDMMARKET licenses are 1 PC options. The correct process is to stop using IDM on the old PC first, then install and activate it on the new PC.

Before you move

Open your IDMMARKET account and make sure your license is visible under My licenses. Save the order number and checkout email. If you cannot access the old PC or cannot find the serial number, contact support before trying multiple activations.

Recommended transfer steps

1. Open the old computer.
2. Uninstall Internet Download Manager.
3. Restart the old computer if required.
4. Download IDM on the new computer from the official website.
5. Install IDM and open the registration menu.
6. Enter your name, email and serial number.
7. Restart IDM or Windows if the program asks you to do so.

If the old computer is not available

If the old PC was lost, damaged or formatted, explain this to support. Include the order number and purchase email. Do not activate the same serial repeatedly on multiple devices, because repeated use on different computers can create license status problems.

Changing parts vs changing computer

Replacing small hardware components is not always the same as moving to a new PC. But replacing the motherboard or moving to a different computer can look like a new machine. If activation fails after a major hardware change, contact support.
