How to Register Internet Download Manager with a Serial Number

Registering Internet Download Manager is simple when you have an original serial number and the correct purchase email. Most activation problems happen because the serial number is typed manually, copied with an extra space, or entered into an old IDM installation that needs to be restarted.

This guide explains the safe activation flow for customers who bought IDM from IDMMARKET or another authorized source. The goal is not only to activate the software once, but also to help you keep your order information safe for future reinstall or support requests.

Before you start

Prepare three pieces of information before opening IDM: the email address used during checkout, your order number, and your IDM serial number. If your license was delivered through your IDMMARKET account, open My licenses and copy the serial number directly from the license card.

Internet Download Manager warns users not to confuse similar characters in the serial number, especially zero and the letter O, or the number 1 and the letter I. The official registration help recommends copy and paste whenever possible instead of typing the code manually.

Step-by-step activation

1. Download IDM from the official IDM website if it is not installed yet.
2. Install IDM and open the program.
3. In the IDM menu, open Registration.
4. Choose the registration option and enter your name, email address and serial number.
5. Paste the serial number exactly as received. Do not add spaces before or after the code.
6. Confirm the form and restart IDM if the program asks you to do so.

After a successful registration, the registration menu may become disabled or show that IDM is already registered. That is normal. It means the current installation already has a registered license.

If the serial number does not work

First, check the copy process. Many failed activations are caused by incomplete copy, extra spaces or mixed characters. Copy the serial number again from your IDMMARKET account and paste it into the registration field. Then close IDM completely from its own menu and open it again. If the message still appears, restart Windows and test again.

If you still receive a message about a fake, blocked or invalid serial number, do not keep trying random changes. Contact support with your order number, purchase email and a screenshot of the exact message. This lets support check whether the issue is a typing problem, old installation problem, or license status problem.

Security note

Never share your serial number in public groups, forums, screenshots or social media. IDM licenses are intended for the purchased use case. Sharing a serial number can create activation problems and may cause the code to stop working.
